Following the confirmation by their respective agencies that aespa’s Karina and actor Lee Jae-Wok are in a relationship, the latter’s agency, C-JeS Studios, announced that it would be taking legal action against malicious sentiments targeting the actor.
On Thursday, Feb. 29, C-JeS Studios took to Instagram to say that legal precautions should be observed following defamatory posts about Lee’s private life.
“Following the news about Lee Jae Wook’s private life, we earnestly requested for warm respect to be shown, but offensive posts with malicious intentions including those with false information and slander against the actor have been found online,” the agency said.
“These severely violate personality rights, and we are informing you that we will take strong civil and criminal action through a legal representative. We are constantly monitoring online [posts], and if fans send malicious cases to cjesstudios.legal@gmail.com, we will also consider them when taking legal action.” it warned.
Karina and Lee’s relationship was confirmed by both their agencies on Feb. 27 and both the Korean celebrities have been receiving hateful messages from netizens.
One of the speculations being thrown at the actor was that he allegedly left his girlfriend, who was an actress, to date Karina, as reported by Korean outlet Ten Asia.
The two met a month ago at a fashion show in Milan and reportedly fell for each other. Their agencies wrote that they were in the early stages of getting to know each another.
Recently Karina made her first appearance since the news about their confirmed relationship came out, after attending a Krush pop-up event on Thursday, Feb. 29. Lee, on the other hand, is said to be filming his next drama.
Karina debuted as a member of the four-piece girl group aespa under SM Entertainment in 2020. Aespa is known for such hits as “Black Mamba,” “Next Level” and “Drama.”
Meanwhile, Lee debuted in 2018 through tvN drama “Memories of the Alhambra” and recently received acclaim for his performance in “Alchemy of Souls.”
