Diego Loyzaga opened up about the phase in his life when he needed to enter a rehabilitation center, expressing the hope that his daughter Hailey will not judge his past and mistakes once she learns about it when she’s older.

Loyzaga talked about fatherhood and how he wants to be “a very present father,” in an interview for “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Friday, Feb. 23.

“After 12 years of being in show biz, I finally was able to put a [down payment] for a house,” he revealed, sharing how he’s preparing for Hailey’s playroom and bedroom in his house. “I don’t know. It feels different but at the same time, it’s the same. I can’t say naman na in an instant nagbago ‘yung buhay ko.”

When asked how he would explain it to his daughter, Loyzaga said, “I guess I’d say, ‘Anak, in life, people make mistakes. I think naman if you don’t make mistakes, you don’t really grow.'”

“Everything I did, whether good or bad, was publicized,” he stated. “I’d just say to her that, ‘I hope you don’t judge me for my past. I hope you don’t look at me differently for the mistakes I’ve done and maybe, might still do in the future. But just know that I love you and I promise that I’ll give you a life that I never had.'”

Reiterating his promise, Loyzaga declared, “Kahit ano pa ang maisumbat sa akin ng tao, I will never ever be an absent or not a loving father. ‘Yan ang pangako ko talaga.”

It can be recalled that Suapengco introduced herself to the public in January as she slammed the actor for allegedly kicking her and Hailey out of his house to accommodate another woman.

While Loyzaga—who said he’s “single” as of the moment—did not talk about this issue during his “Fast Talk” interview, the actor made mention of Suapengco as he shared that he recently visited Hailey at her house.

He said Suapengco has been sending videos of Hailey to Loyzaga’s dad, veteran actor Cesar Montano.
