Like his girlfriend Liza Soberano, Enrique Gil said he is open to the possibility of following her footsteps to Hollywood if there is any opportunity for it.
Gil was all support for Soberano as she made her global acting debut. He was at the special advance screening of “Lisa Frankenstein” on Tuesday, Feb. 6, where he was asked if he has any career plans to follow Soberano in Hollywood.
“I don’t know. I’m always open to anything. If the opportunity is there, of course,” he said.
But in the meantime, the “I Am Not Big Bird” star is happy to support Soberano’s Hollywood dream.
“I feel so excited. I’m super happy for Liza. This has always been her dream, and for her to be living her dreams, it just means the world to me,” said Gil.
The actor said he will always be in support of his former love team as Soberano tries to create a name for herself internationally.
“I’m so happy. I just can’t believe it. We were just there in New Orleans shooting for her film, and just to be here now for her premiere night just doesn’t feel real,” he said.
“I’ve always been her supporter, ever since day one. So sabi ko talaga, ‘til I die, I will always support Hopie,” added the actor.
Gil hoped that “Lisa Frankenstein” would kick off more Hollywood projects for Soberano. “I hope so. This is her dream. Whatever she wants to do in her life, if it’s her dream, I’m all for it.”
As Soberano’s Hollywood debut film premieres today, February 7, in Philippine cinemas, Gil also expressed his excitement that his film “I’m Not a Big Bird” will also premiere in local cinemas this February.
“It’s so funny [‘cause] for four years we have actually been out of showbiz. No project, walang movie, or teleserye. For both our movies to be coming out in the same month after four years, I’m just so happy we’re back and we’re doing what we always loved to do,” he said.
Despite being hounded by breakup rumors, Gil said in his past interview that he and Soberano are still together. When asked if they’re going to celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day, the actor hopes they will be able to.
“She said she’s going to come back on the 13th. I think she has work on that day, and sabi ko, ‘You have to come by on my premiere night,’ so after her work, she’ll go straight on the premiere night. Hopefully she can make it,” said Gil on Soberano, attending his movie premiere.
“Hopefully but sabi niya she has to go back right away to L.A. kasi may work. Hopefully she can stay a little bit longer,” added the actor on spending time with the actress on Valentine’s day.
