The members of GFriend — consisting of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji — again joined forces to reflect on the unforgettable memories of their 10-year career in their new single “Season of Memories,” a pre-release single of their upcoming special album of the same name.

“Season of Memories,” which was released on Monday, January 6, is a nostalgic tribute to the K-pop girl group’s journey containing the lyrics “I couldn’t believe that everything would disappear / Through the twists and turns of time, we met again / I’ve waited for you in every moment / I’ll choose you till the very end / We were always connected as one / In the season of our warm memories / We’ll be together forever.”

“[The song] reflects on GFriend‘s remarkable journey, delivering the heartfelt message that the songs they sang and the seasons they shared will forever be etched in their memories,” Source Music said in a press statement. “With its uplifting melody and dynamic progression, ‘Season of Memories’ showcases their signature emotive style, seamlessly blending a sense of nostalgia with refreshing novelty.”

The song is written by Noh Joo-hwan, Shintaro Yasuda, Lee Won-jong, and Takayuki “Kojiro” Sasaki, with Lee and Noh also contributing to its lyrics. According to the press statement, Lee and Noh have been working with GFriend including their songs “Time for the Moon Night,” “Sunrise,” and “Crossroads.”

Prior to the track’s release, a mood film featuring the members of GFriend returning to their signature nostalgia, female power, lush, and sentimental concept, which includes the members posing in garden and homey surroundings, laced with crayon-like scribbles on the screen. A scene featuring the photos of the members in a scrapbook-esque album was one of the highlights of the mood film as well.

With “Glass Bead” as the introduction, GFriend made headlines after performing “Rough,” “Time for the Moon Night,” and “Season of Memories” at the 39th Golden Disc Awards which took place at the Mizuho Paypay Dome in Fukuoka, Japan earlier this month.

The stage featured a compilation of the girl group’s milestones and a clock as the centerpiece of their performance, appearing to portray the time that passed since their debut.

Composed of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji, GFriend debuted in January 2015 with the first mini-album “Season of Glass” which also contains the debut track “Glass Bead.” The girl group was active until May 2021 following the expiration of their contracts with the South Korean music label.

The special album is a reunion project of GFriend’s members, who have since pursued their own careers in the South Korean entertainment industry. Eunha, SinB, and Umji joined forces to form the K-pop trio VIVIZ, while Sowon, Yerin, and Yuju embarked on their solo careers.
