Dennis Trillo says he almost gave up acting due to limited projects

Dennis Trillo looked back on the highs and lows of his career and shared the time that he almost gave up on being an actor because of the lack of projects coming his way.
Sitting down for GMA’s “A very serious interview,” the actor recalled the early days of his career when he was having a hard time landing a project, making him almost give up.
“May times sa career ko na gusto ko na sana mag-give up nung time na nagsisimula pa lang ako sa showbiz. Meron akong phase na hindi na ako natatanggap sa mga commercials kasi nung time na ‘yon never ko pa na experience mag workshop, sobrang mahiyain pa ako,” he said.
Trillo revealed that it was doing workshops that gave him an edge to secure projects after failing so many times.
“Nung time na ‘yon gusto ko na mag give up kasi wala na akong projects na nakukuha. And buti na lang nakapag attend ako ng workshops at ‘yun ang sumagip sakin and narealize ko na kailangan ko pagbutihin para magkaroon ako ng trabaho,” shared the actor.
The “Maria Clara at Ibarra” star then expressed his desire to bag a villain role, as he aimed to shy away from the previous roles he had played in the past.
“Dahil madalas puro mga matinee idol, puro mga leading man ang nakukuha kong mga roles ang gusto ko sanang makuha sa susunod ay ‘yung talagang full on kontrabida. ‘Yung talagang kaiinisan ng mga tao at ‘yung magagalit sila sakin. ‘Yung tipong kapag nakita nila ako sa labas may kasamang mura, ‘yung ganon sila kaaffected,” he said.
Being in the industry for 20 years, Trillo extended advice to aspiring young actors who might want to go on the same path as him, saying they must have love and respect for the job.
“Ang maa-advise ko lang sa kanila kahit saang trabaho, kailangan kung ano man ‘yung ibigay sa inyo siguraduhin niyo na mamahalin niyo at paniniwalaan niyo at tama ‘yung mga taong nasa paligid niyo na susuporta sa inyo. Maging sincere ka sa trabaho, pahalagahan mo at maging marespeto ka sa mga tao,” the actor said.
