Eric Quizon recalls almost-romance with Aiko Melendez

Eric Quizon said that his almost-romance with Aiko Melendez did not progress because he realized the gap between their ages.
In an interview with Ogie Diaz, Quizon recalled the time he was said to be courting the actress, saying they were close to each other given they were on-screen partners.
“Ang agwat kasi namin nine years. Naging close kami kasi naging magkalove team kami. Yes, there was a time na parang meron. Nagkita pa kami sa Hongkong,” he shared.
The actor noted the age gap between him and Melendez, which made him to no longer pursue the relationship.
“Nakita ko ‘yung age difference namin kasi sabi ko parang pedophile naman ang dating ko dito kapag ang babae teenager, kung nine years [gap] namin, nag umpisa ako mag artista at 20,” he said.
“Si Aiko nag umpisa mag artista 13, so nung mga 22 na ako saka pa lang siya nag uumpisa. Although we became very close kami ni Aiko kasi may chemistry kami,” added the actor.
Quizon detailed how close he was to the actress-counselor, mentioning that their actions toward each other were genuine and without malice, making their love team successful at the time.
“Minsan niloloko kami ng mga direktor namin kasi bago magtake tawanan kami ng tawanan, naglolokohan kami, nahihiga kami, humihiga siya sa lap ko, na hindi namin nilalagyan ng malisya, ganon kami naging close kaya maski ‘yung love team namin malaki ‘yung difference ng age namin nagwork rin siya,” he shared.
The now-talent manager also reflected on his choice not to settle down and have a family, noting he was used to being alone.
“Nagkaroon naman ako ng mga relationships kaya lang parang hindi talaga siya nagwowork, siguro masiyado lang talaga ako naging independent. Hindi ko kaya na may kasama sa bahay. Gusto ko talaga ‘yung mag isa,” he said.
Quizon said working as a talent manager gave him the opportunity to experience being somehow a father.
“Instantly para ako naging tatay kasi I accepted this work as a talent head of star center, meron akong 32 kids, na-iintindihan ko na kung paano maging stage father,” he said .
“So yes, I must admit na because of that, kumbaga parang hindi ko na naisip ‘yon. Siguro I was not meant to have my own kids but to adopt new kids,” affirmed the actor.
