Ian Veneracion says he doesn’t care about bashers

One thing that allowed Ian Veneracion to deal with the downside of being a celebrity is to not mind his bashers, a trait that he has passed on to his children when dealing with the dangers of social media.
Sitting down with Iza Calzado, Jodi Sta. Maria, Dennis Trillo, and Dimples Romana for a talk with a parenting vlog, Modern Parenting PH Couch Talk, Veneracion said that only the opinions of his wife and children are what matter to him, while that other people’s opinions on social media are just noise.
“For me, I have 25, 22, and 17 (age of his children), and they’re very exposed to social media, and they see kung gaano ako kawalang pakielam. Ang importante sakin ‘yong opinion ng asawa ko, importante sakin ‘yong opinion ng mga anak ko. Everything else, honestly, is just burloloy.”
(My sons are aged 25, 22, and 17. They’re very exposed to social media, and they see how I don’t mind anything that goes on online. What’s important to me is the opinion of my wife and children; everything else is just noise.)
The actor explained that if other people have good things to say to him, he welcomes them. But if the words are hurtful and are not constructive, he just ignores them, which is something that his children emulate from him.
“Whether it’s good or bad, you have good words for me. Thank you. If you have nasty words for me, yeah, sure, it doesn’t really mean anything. So they see that, so to them it’s, ‘Oo nga naman, why would we take seriously some random accounts?’ So ganon medyo dedma sila.”
(If other people have good words for me, thank you. If they have nasty words, for me, sure, it doesn’t really mean anything. So my children see that, and they say, ‘That’s true; why would we take any comments from these random accounts?’ so they didn’t end up not caring at all.)
Over the years, Veneracion has been keeping a low profile with his wife of 20 years, Pam Gallardo and their three children. He is known to not post about his family or his personal life online.
