Lola Amour warns vs unauthorized use of their songs in campaign jingles

OPM band Lola Amour has issued a subtle warning to political candidates to refrain from using their songs in election campaigns without their consent.
The band made the warning through their social media pages after being informed that their songs were being used in jingles, noting that these were without their permission.
“Madami na naman daw gumagamit ng mga kanta namin para sa mga campaign jingles (We heard that many are using our songs for campaign jingles). Please note that all of those are used WITHOUT our consent. What if I told you that it’s stolen?” read the post, with the last line referencing their song “Fallen.”
Lola Amour also noted that they would never endorse a candidate who “they do not believe in or don’t know anything about their platform.”

Amid their warning against unauthorized use of their songs, the band reminded the public to vote wisely in the upcoming elections.
“Btw guys, this happened before and I guess it’s happening again: All of the campaign jingles using our songs do not have our consent. Vote wisely,” they wrote, following a netizen’s tweet saying that their song “Raining in Manila” has been used for a campaign jingle.

Prior to this, rapper Omar Baliw, whose real name is Omar Harry B. Manzano, filed a copyright infringement complaint against Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Apollo C. Quiboloy and SMNI president Dr. Marlon Rosete over the unauthorized use of the former’s song “K&B” for Quiboloy’s campaign jingle for his senatorial bid.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) earlier said that it requires a formal complaint to take action against the unauthorized use of copyrighted songs as campaign jingles.
Lola Amour is composed of lead vocalist Pio Dumayas, lead guitarist Zoe Gonzales, trumpeters Angelo Mesina and Manu Dumayas, keyboardist David Yuhico, drummer Raffy Perez and saxophonist Jeff Abueg.
The band previously performed “Raining in Manila” with British band Coldplay during the latter’s concert in Manila for their “Music of the Spheres” world tour.
