Jennie Kim of Blackpink announced the establishment of her personal label company called OA ‘Odd Atelier,’ saying this is the start of her solo journey in 2024.

“Hi, this is Jennie. This year was filled with many accomplishments, and I’m so thankful for all the love I’ve received. I’m also excited about what’s to come, as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and, of course, BLACKPINK,” she wrote on Instagram.

The K-pop star put the rumors to rest after several screenshots of the company’s website went viral on social media the night before, saying that Jennie reportedly started her own label and was listed as one of the artists under the said agency.

“OA, which stands for Odd Atelier, is a space that aims to create new things that attract attention in a different way from what is usual or expected. It is a label founded by artist Jennie in November 2023,” reads a description on the OA website.

Jennie debuted in 2016 as a member of Blackpink, and is now one of the most influential artists of the K-pop era. She is a singer, rapper, actor, and fashion icon with global influence. Other than her world record-breaking career as part of Blackpink, she became the first Korean female solo artist to top the iTunes worldwide song chart with her solo single Solo’ in 2018, hit No. 1 on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart, and earned numerous accolades as well,” Jennie Bio read on her label’s website.

Earlier this month, YG Entertainment announced that all members of the K-popgirl group renewed their contract with the company after rumors that the K-pop sensation group would part ways with them following their contract’s expiration in August.

“We have successfully reached an agreement within our board of directors regarding the signing of exclusive group contracts for all four members of Blackpink, our esteemed artists,” said YG.

In September, Blackpink completed the international “Born Pink” tour, gathering around 1.8 million attendees with a total revenue of 300 billion won. Following the group’s renewal with the company, YG will continue to reap from Blackpink’s group activities.
