Days after making a star-studded comeback on noontime TV, Vice Ganda declared that the hosts of “It’s Showtime” are stronger than ever as it marks a new chapter to inspire viewers.
The noontime show made its return last Oct. 28, after serving a 12-day suspension imposed by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), with mainstay hosts Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Karylle, Kim Chiu, Ogie Alcasid, Jhong Hilario, Ryan Bang, Amy Perez, Jackie Gonzaga, Teddy Corpuz, Ion Perez and Cianne Dominguez in full force, minus Vhong Navarro and Jugs Jugueta.
The actor-comedian told reporters on the sidelines of the Opulence Halloween Ball that the noontime show’s hosts were more “hyped” than ever, after they “missed” their supporters during their 12-day absence.
“Masarap,” he said, when asked about his thoughts on “It’s Showtime’s” return. “Mas hype kami ngayon kasi kahit 12 days kami nawala, namiss namin ang pang-araw araw naming ginagawa sa TV at [magbigay-saya] sa madlang people at magbigay inspirayon sa kanila kaya sobrang excited kami bumalik.”
(It feels good. We’re more hyped than ever because even if we’ve been gone for 12 days, we missed being on TV to make viewers happy and inspire them. So, we’re excited to return.)
Vice Ganda also spoke about the noontime show cast’s recent trip to Hong Kong last October, which appeared to be some sort of a team building that made their bond “stronger.”
“Ang saya kasi we haven’t done it in so long. Ilang years na rin [since our last trip together]. Simula sa umaga, magkasama kami at hindi kami naghihiwalay,” he said. “Dati kasi, [pagkatapos ng ‘It’s Showtime’], may sarili na kaming ganap. Mas lalong na-strengthen ang bond namin.”
(It was really fun because we haven’t done it in so long. It’s been years since our last trip together. Starting in the morning, we were together and never separated. Before, after “It’s Showtime” we would go our separate ways, so this trip made our bond stronger.)
During the interview, the “Praybeyt Benjamin” star also admitted that their Hong Kong vacation was a big help to their physical and mental health.
“Hindi kami nakakapag-bakasyon nang tuloy-tuloy. Usually kasi, ang bakasyon namin may kasabay [na trabaho]. Malaking [bagay] na nagkaroon kami ng pahinga kasi mahalagang ipahinga ang aming physical and mental condition (We hadn’t been on a full vacation. (Usually, our vacation is mixed with work. It’s a big thing for us to rest to help in recovering our physical and mental condition),” he said.
During “It’s Showtime’s” absence, the Luis Manzano-led “It’s Your Lucky Day” temporarily took over the noontime slot, although it remains unknown if the game show will be back on air.
