Ricci Rivero appears displeased after a netizen suggested that the basketball player should stop watching University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) games and instead take time to wash his laundry.

“Maglaba ka na lang [please]. ‘Wag ka na manood ng [University of the Philippines’] games, [Ricci],” fan account @yupimaroons said on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Oct. 18, adding a clip of animated character Spongebob pleading.

(Please do your laundry instead of watching UP’s games.)

A seemingly annoyed Rivero, who earlier watched UP men’s basketball game against De La Salle University, then replied, “Ah, wala pumapansin sayo sa bahay kaya dito ka hahanap ng papansin? [Laughing out loud] as bida-bida.”

(It seems that no one pays attention to you at home so you’re looking for someone to notice you here [on X]. Laughing out loud at you, attention seeker.)

While the netizen did not expound on their remark, it appears to be a reference to a previous statement by Rivero’s ex-girlfriend, actress Andrea Brillantes. It can be recalled that last July, Brillantes advised her fans to think of certain turn-offs to be able to move on after a breakup.

“Minsan, kung hirap kang mag-move on, kailangan mo talagang isipin ang mga bagay na, ‘Talaga ba? Iiyakan ko ba ‘yung lalaking hindi nagpapa-laundry nang isang taon?’” she said in a YouTube vlog.

(Sometimes, if you’re struggling to move on from an ex, you really have to ponder what turns you off about them like, “Really? Do I have to cry about a man who doesn’t do his laundry for a year?”)

Brillantes did not name anyone, but fans seemed to have concluded that she was referring to her recent ex, Rivero. The basketball player, for his part, has not publicly commented on the matter.

Rivero and Brillantes’ split was confirmed to the public last June 9, with the basketball player appealing to fans to stop creating “false accusations.” Rivero was apparently referring to the third-party allegations against him and beauty queen-turned-politician Leren Mae Bautista at the time, which they both denied.

Meanwhile, Rivero and Bautista have been rumored to be dating as they have been seen together in public in several instances.  /ra
