Nicole Borromeo among Top 3 from Asia-Pacific in Miss International polls
MANILA, Philippines — Binibining Pilipinas Nicole Borromeo got Filipinos voting as she emerges as one of the top three delegates from Asia-Pacific in the initial count of the online poll conducted by the 2023 Miss International pageant taking place in Japan.
The Cebuana host, model, and interior design student joined Vietnam’s Nguyen Phuong Nhi and Bangladesh’s Farzana Yasmin Ananna as the top delegates from the region based on the most recent tabulation. The Miss International pageant announced the partial results on social media.
“This competitive [region] really knows how to support their respective [delegates],” the international pageant said in a social media post announcing Nguyen at the top, followed by Ananna, and with Borromeo on the third spot.

Savanna Delos Santos from Northern Mariana Islands was the top delegate from the Asia-Pacific region. She finished in the Top 15. The Philippines’ Hannah Arnold was the lone Asian delegate to advance to the semifinals in the 2022 Miss International pageant.
The public may continue keying in their votes on the Miss International mobile app. The first vote per user is free. The results of the online poll will be announced during the coronation show at the Yoyogi Gymnasium No. 2 in Tokyo’s Shibuya ward on Oct. 26.
Borromeo will try to become the seventh Filipino woman to win the Miss International title, after Gemma Cruz in 1964, Aurora Pijuan in 1970, Melanie Marquez in 1979, Precious Lara Quigaman in 2005, Bea Rose Santiago in 2013, and Kylie Verzosa in 2016.
Before flying to Tokyo, the reigning national queen paid a courtesy call on Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko. She also flew to the Land of the Rising Sun ahead of the other delegates because of several engagements. She had a courtesy visit with Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene Garcia Albano, and attended a “meet-and-greet” event hosted by the Filipino community at the Shin-Yokohama Grace Hotel on Oct. 8.
