Carla Abellana chose not to give a definite answer regarding the possibility of being friends with her ex-husband Tom Rodriguez, claiming how âanything can happen.â
The âLove of My Lifeâ actress, during a press conference for her contract signing with All Access to Artists Inc. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, shared that she prefers to not set anything in stone, including the chances of a friendship with her former on- and off-screen partner, per Inquirer Bandera.
âKumbaga, sa buhay po, napakarami pong kaganapan na unpredictable. So, ayoko pong, kumbaga, tuldukan o maging definite sa anumang bagay. So, anything can happen. So, wala po akong gustong i-finish, i-finalize, i-set,â said the 37-year-old Kapuso star.
(Like, in life, there are a lot of unpredictable events. So, I donât want to, like, conclude or be definite about anything. So, anything can happen. So, thereâs nothing that I would like to finish, finalize, or set.)
Abellana, who said that she has more than moved on from her separation from the âPinoy Big Brotherâ alum, is not worried about an encounter with Rodriguez, which, to her, is something thatâs âinevitableâ for them, being part of the âsame industryâ and belonging to the same network.

âOf course, matagal ko na pong naisip âyon [pagkikita nila ni Tom]. Na-prepare ko âyung sarili ko. Parang wala na po. Wala na akong mararamdaman kung sakali man pong mangyari âyon or kung mangyari man na po yun,â shared Abellana, who said sheâs confident she wonât be overcome by either panic, fear, or sadness in the event that they see each other again.
(Of course, Iâve long thought about crossing paths with Tom. Iâve prepared myself for it. I donât think Iâll feel anything if ever we see each other or when that happens.)
âAt least, kumbaga, kilala ko po ang sarili ko, parang ganuân po. Confident na po ako na hindi naman po ako parang magpa-panic or matatakot, o malulungkot, parang ganon (At least, itâs like, I know myself. Iâm already confident that I wonât, like, panic or be afraid, or feel sad),â she continued.
While she sees âno problemâ being around her âMy Husbandâs Loverâ co-star in a professional setting, Abellana â[doesnât] think itâs necessaryâ to âreach outâ to Rodriguez when they do meet again.
During her guesting on âFast Talk with Boy Abundaâ earlier in the year, Abellana also mentioned being granted a temporary protection order. Her lawyer, Atty. Peter Sanchez, who was also present in the interview, explained that just as his client has the right to âinvoke the protection,â she can also decide otherwise.
âIf theyâre [Abellana and Rodriguez] in the same building, in the same locality, if she doesnât feel threatened or, in any manner, uncomfortable, she can opt not to [invoke the protection],â clarified Sanchez.
In the same interview, Abellana also mentioned being âvery happyâ with her ex-husbandâs decision to file a âdivorce decreeâ in the US, which Rodriguez â in a statement shared by his manager last year â said has already been finalized. She further shared that she had already filed a âpetition for the recognitionâ of their divorce in the Philippines. EDV
