Carla Abellana after split with Tom Rodriguez: ‘I don’t see myself getting married again’

Carla Abellana is further speaking up about her separation from actor Tom Rodriguez and confessed that while she is open to falling in love again, she does not see herself getting married for the second time.
In an interview with Boy Abunda on Thursday, Feb. 16, the actress spoke about the petition she filed in Philippine court to recognize the divorce decree obtained by Rodriguez, an American citizen, in the United States.
Abellana said that while this petition has yet to be granted, the local court already granted her the temporary protection order she filed against Rodriguez. Abellana did not elaborate on the matter as she is prohibited from disclosing further details. She noted, though, that the protection order is enforceable regardless of whether the dissolution of their marriage in the country is granted or not.
Given that she and Rodriguez might possibly bump into each other as they work under the same network, Abellana has the right to “invoke protection” if she feels “threatened or in any manner uncomfortable” of his presence, as per the actress’ lawyer who was also present during the interview.
Abellana was then asked about the reason for her separation from Rodriguez, to which she answered, “Napakadaming dahilan… but basically, bottomline is umabot na sa breaking point, sobra na.”
(There are so many reasons but basically, the bottomline is [I reached] my breaking point. It was already too much.)
“There was still disrespect, all the lying, there was no change. Hindi po ‘yon first time na nangyari sa amin pero ito po is taken to a different level, extreme na,” she continued. (It wasn’t the first time it happened to us, but it was taken to a different and extreme level.)
The actress also reflected on the lessons she learned from her heartbreak and stressed that while she hopes “to experience love again,” she now has a totally different perspective on marriage.
“I still believe in love [but] aaminin ko na madaming nag-change sa perspective ko (but I would admit that my perspective has changed), especially with marriage,” she admitted. “So I really, honestly don’t see myself getting married again.”
Abellana said that she has already forgiven Rodriguez and that she no longer holds any grudge against him. She then turned emotional as she declared she was grateful “for all the blessings and for what I have left.”
Prior to this interview, Abellana confessed that she regretted her marriage to Rodriguez, with whom she tied the knot in October 2021. /ra
