SexBomb’s Aira, Sugar weighs in on Izzy’s rejection of son’s drag career
While SexBomb’s Aira Bermudez and Sugar Mercado understood where their bandmate Izzy Trazona-Aragon is coming from regarding her son Andrei’s drag career, they said that the mother and son should have settled their issues in private rather than putting them on display on social media.
Bermudez and Mercado spoke about Izzy’s relationship with her son during a “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” interview, which was uploaded on GMA Network’s YouTube channel on Tuesday, Sept. 19. The topic was brought up after Abunda asked the dancers to share their two-cents on the matter.
Earlier this month, Trazona-Aragon expressed dismay on Facebook over Andrei’s drag career on Facebook. This prompted the latter to reveal in a separate post that he lied about his mother’s “acceptance” to protect her from bashers.
“Kasi ‘yan si Izzy kumare ko ‘yan, mahal ko ‘yan. Meron siyang pinaninindigan at pinaniniwalaan. ‘Yung faith niya kay God, kailangan nating irespeto ‘yun at ‘yung gustong mangyari ng anak niya kailangan din nating irespeto (Izzy is my friend. I love her. She remains firm in her beliefs. But we have to respect her faith in God. We have to respect her son also),” Bermudez said, while noting that she understood Izzy and Andrei’s respective woes.
Bermudez, however, stressed that Izzy and Andrei should have addressed their differences in private, and “thought hard” before posting it on social media.

Sana na lang, nag-usap sila, hindi sa social media,” she said.

They should’ve talked about this in private, and not through social media.)
Meanwhile, Mercado admitted during the interview that she “relates” to Izzy as a mother, but noted that the latter shouldn’t have brought her issues with Andrei on a public platform.
(I can relate to Izzy as a mother. As moms, we want the best for our loved ones and our children. You want them to feel taken care of, and you want them to live well. I understand Ate Izzy. She’s fighting for the Lord and no one else, so I can’t blame her. But I agree with Ate Aira that they should’ve discussed this in private instead.)
Following Izzy’s declaration, Andrei appeared to be heartbroken with her remarks as he noted that his mother “doesn’t accept [him]” for who he is.
The SexBomb mother has yet to respond to her son’s posts, but has since been speaking about her faith in God on Facebook. EDV
