Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have confirmed their separation to the public, saying it’s their mutual decision to “amicably end [their] marriage.”
The former couple finally spoke up about their split through a joint statement released on their respective Instagram pages on Wednesday, Sept. 6.
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they said.
“There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” they added, opting not to expound on the cause of their split.
The American singer and the British actress, who tied the knot twice, were hounded by breakup speculations earlier this week after the singer reportedly hired a divorce lawyer. A day later, Jonas officially filed for divorce from Turner, as per documents obtained by multiple entertainment outlets.
The pair shares two children: Willa, born in July 2020, and their second daughter—whose name has yet to be made public—born in 2022. /ra
