Kathryn Bernardo speaks up on her need for ‘privacy and personal space’ following viral vape video
Kathryn Bernardo stressed the importance of “personal space,” weeks after an unsolicited video of herself holding what appeared to be a vape went viral on social media. She said the video was a “violation” of her privacy.
During an ambush interview with reporters on the sidelines of the media conference for her film “A Very Good Girl,” Bernardo confessed that she was “saddened” about the video being taken without her knowledge, although she didn’t explicitly mention the contents of the video.
“Well, una, sad ako na may video about it kasi parang [na-violate] ‘yung privacy ko. But then, it happened. So okay lang kung nangyari na… Kung ginagawa ko ‘yun, or ‘di ko ginagawa, or ginagawa ko lang ba yun sa movie, hindi naman ‘yun ide-define ‘yung pagkatao ko. It won’t make me less of a person,” she said.
(Well, first of all, I’m sad that there’s a video about it because my privacy was violated. But then, it happened. So it’s okay since it happened already. If I was indeed doing it or not, or if I was doing it for the movie, it doesn’t define me as a person. It won’t make me less of a person.)
The Kapamilya star then hoped that the incident won’t happen again, as she pointed out that she needs her “privacy and personal space.”

The actress’ “A Very Good Girl” co-star Dolly de Leon spoke about the incident earlier this month, as she explained that the actress was holding a vape to prepare for a scene in the film.
“Kailangan niyang i-practice kasi hindi siya marunong mag-vape. Pero kung nagve-vape at kung umiinom na talaga siya, siguro naman okay lang dahil nasa edad na siya. Nasa legal age na siya para gawin ‘yun (She has to practice using a vape because she doesn’t know how to use it. But if she’s indeed vaping and drinking, it’s okay because she’s at the right age. She’s at the legal age),” she said. /ra
