Kathryn Bernardo recalls not owning a smart TV set before, now awaits completion of her dream house
MANILA, Philippines — Life is coming up roses for actress Kathryn Bernardo, who started as a young lass from Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija dreaming of becoming an actress to help provide for her family.
Speaking at a recent event for an appliance label in which she is a celebrity ambassador, Bernardo recalled that she used to dream of having a nice TV set to watch her favorite shows and series. Now, she’s fulfilling her dreams of not just owning her own smart TV, but also in building her dream house for herself and her family.
“I enjoy watching movies, my favorite TV series, when I was a child, so my go-to (dream) was to have a really nice TV… We didn’t have smart TVs back then, and no Netflix. The top-of-the-line were the big ones that are slim,” she told the Inquirer at the sidelines of the event held in Parañaque City last June 15.
Bernardo literally patted her own back as she recalled the moment she was finally able to buy one for her family. “I was really proud of myself back then, I worked hard for it!”

Then it was moved to March, my birthday, but the house was not finished yet. Now they’re telling us we can move in either June or July,” she said.

She said they are now in the finishing stages of the build, and they are carefully planning what pieces of furniture to put inside, and what appliances to get for the different rooms of the house. “We’re really enjoying the process because it’s our dream home,” Bernardo shared.
The actress is relying on her mother, Min, who has been hands-on since the first day of the build.

Bernardo has already buckled down to work on her new movie project “A Very Good Girl” with Golden Globe-nominee Dolly De Leon, and produced by Star Cinema.
“We have already filmed for 10 days. So far, I’m really enjoying it. I was really nervous because this is my first time to work with Petersen (Vargas, the director) and everybody else. The environment is pretty different from the usual,” Bernardo said.
She also shared how she gushed over De Leon. “Oh my God, she’s so cool! I love her. She’s very supportive, super! We have a deal, that whenever we have a scene, we will team up to make it work. I’m just happy that she’s guiding me every step of the way. She’s very supportive, and I love her, she’s so cool,” Bernardo said. The two have previously worked together on the 2010 TV series “Endless Love.”
The young actress was last seen on the silver screen in the 2019 drama flick “Hello, Love, Goodbye” opposite Alden Richards, and where she earned nominations from the Film Academy of the Philippines, FAMAS, Gawad Urian, the Asian Academy Creative Awards, and the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts.
