NCT’s Taeil will have to temporarily suspend any physical activities due to a fracture in his right thigh following a motorcycle accident.

Taeil’s label, South Korean music agency SM Entertainment, confirmed the singer’s accident in an official statement on Tuesday, Aug. 15, and said he’s set to undergo surgery soon. The accident took place when Taeil was “on his way home after finishing his schedule,” said his label.

“In the early morning of today (August 15), Taeil was on his way home on his motorcycle after finishing his schedule when he was involved in an accident. He immediately visited a hospital for a detailed examination and treatment,” SM’s statement read, according to a Soompi translation.

Despite the fracture, the K-pop idol remained in “stable condition” and is currently receiving treatment.

“As a result of the examination, he was diagnosed with a fracture in his right thigh and he received medical advice that surgery was necessary. Currently, Taeil is in stable condition and receiving the necessary treatment at the hospital ahead of the surgery,” the agency said.

The NCT member will take a break from his activities to “focus on treatment and recovery,” per SM. As a result, he will be unable to participate in the group’s upcoming “NCT Nation: To The World” concert at the Incheon Munhak Stadium in South Korea on Aug. 26.

“We sincerely apologize for giving you cause for concern with this sudden news. The agency will put the artist’s health as a priority and help Taeil focus on his recovery. We will do our best so that he can greet fans again in good health,” SM further added.

Born as Moon Tae-il, he debuted as the vocalist of the NCT, which is an acronym for Neo Culture Technology, in April 2016. The group is composed of 20 members, namely, Taeyong, Taeil, Johnny, Yuta, Kun, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun, Winwin, Jungwoo, Mark, Xiaojun, Hendery, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, YangYang, Chenle, and Jisung.

Taeil is also a member of the sub-units NCT U and NCT 127. EDV
