Winwyn Marquez says she sought TVJ, Dabarkads’ leave before accepting ‘Eat Bulaga’ hosting stint
Winwyn Marquez made sure to inform Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and legit Dabarkads about accepting the offer to host the revamped “Eat Bulaga,” out of respect for their legacy.
Seeking the help of TV5’s “E.A.T.” staff, Marquez revealed during an ambush interview during a movie premiere that she asked the permission of the former “Eat Bulaga” hosts, according to a report from Inquirer Bandera.
“For me, I just wanted to be in respect to them na magpaalam na mag-guest co-host ako,” she said. “Ang iba naman po, nag-reply. Siyempre, yung iba, naintindihan naman nila ako, wala namang problema. Okay naman. Siyempre, supportive naman sila.”
(For me, I just wanted to ask their permission before I accepted the offer to be a guest co-host. The others replied, and they understood where I’m coming from. There was no problem. It’s okay. Of course, they’re supportive.)
The actress-beauty queen also used to guest as co-host in the old “Eat Bulaga” show helped by TVJ, though she admitted that she has no contact with the comedy trio. She, however, insisted that the legal battle between the former “Eat Bulaga” hosts and production company TAPE Inc. stays between them.

(Perhaps, it’s between them, and whatever is happening. There’s nothing for them to explain, nothing. They just told me to enjoy it.)

“Pero wala naman pong problema sa akin if maging regular kasi tuluy-tuloy naman ako sa kanila… Siguro wala pa talagang final kung ano ba talaga ang mangyayari. Pero so far, tuluy-tuloy naman,” she said.
“Kasi, kilala ko naman sila prior pa, diba? Nakatrabaho ko naman yung iba, like sina Buboy [Villar], si Cassy [Legaspi], si Dasuri [Choi]. So, ang gaan lang talaga,” she continued.
(There’s no problem with me if I become a regular host because I’m constantly working there. I guess there’s nothing final on what will happen yet. But so far, I’ll keep going. I knew them prior to hosting “Eat Bulaga.” I’ve worked with some of them before, like Buboy Villar, Cassy Legaspi, and Dasuri Choi. So the atmosphere is very light.)
During the ambush interview, the “Mga Lihim ni Urduja” star hinted that “Eat Bulaga’s” 44th anniversary celebration will “revolve around the viewers and staff.”
“The anniversary kasi… ‘yung gagawin namin, it’s going to revolve sa viewers, sa audience na manonood, sa mga staff na nandu’n. So, it’s celebrating them. I don’t think it’s celebrating… it’s not about the hosts. It’s more about the people na matutulungan pa nila talaga,” she said.
(What we’ll do on the anniversary will revolve around the viewers, audience, and staff. So, it’s celebrating them. I don’t think it’s celebrating… it’s not about the hosts. It’s more about the people that we could help.)
“Eat Bulaga” is set to mark its 44th anniversary on July 30. The Kapuso noontime show premiered in Radio Philippines Network (RPN), then transferred to ABS-CBN, before staying in GMA.
The show’s cast previously included TVJ, Paolo Ballesteros, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Ryan Agoncillo, Maine Mendoza, Allan K, Ryzza Mae Dizon, and Carren Eistrup, before they transferred to “E.A.T.” amid legal dispute with TAPE. EDV
