Olivia Rodrigo reveals she almost got arrested: ‘I was pissed’
Global pop star Olivia Rodrigo revealed that she was recently interrogated by the police after being mistaken for another girl who’s been arrested multiple times.
In a recent guest appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Rodrigo detailed her experience when she almost got arrested at a border control.
“I got in trouble with the law for the first time in my life. So we were going from Canada to, like, Portland or something. We were at border control. I give them my passport, and they’re like, ‘Okay, whatever.’ And they knock on the door and they’re like, ‘We need Olivia.’ And I’m like, ‘Ah. I just played a few shows. Maybe, like, their daughter wants an autograph.’ And I come out, it’s 3 a.m., and I’m delirious, and they take me to a room, and it’s an interrogation room, and there’s, like, a big cop with, like, a gun. And he’s like, ‘Have you ever been arrested?’” narrated the singer.
“I’m like, ‘No, I haven’t been arrested.’ And he’s like, ‘Are you sure?’ And I’m, like, gaslighting myself. I’m like, ‘Oh, my God. Maybe I was arrested and I didn’t know it.’ He’s like, ‘You know, you could go to jail for lying to a federal officer like this. Like, this is really bad.’ I’m freaking out. I’m like, ‘I’m not going to be let in to America!’ Like, I’m so scared. I’m, like, having a panic attack,” she continued.

“And after 30 minutes of interrogation, he looks at me. He goes, ‘What’s your name?’ And I go, ‘Olivia Rodrigo. R-O-D-R-I-G-O.’ And he’s like, ‘Oh, there’s a girl who looks just like you; that’s your same age that’s been arrested multiple times, and her name is Olivia Rodriguez.’ I was pissed. I’m like, ‘You didn’t look at the name on the thing. You’ve been interrogating me for 30 minutes. But whew. Crisis averted,” said the pop star.
Rodrigo, who’s a proud Filipino American, meanwhile, also talked about her recent visit to the Philippines for her “GUTS” concert, as she expressed her admiration for the Filipino audience for being “good singers.”
