Ellen Adarna revealed that her ex-partner, actor John Lloyd Cruz, is willing to double his financial support for their son Elias, although she pointed out that she wants to fulfill her obligations as his mom.

Adarna said this in response to an anonymous follower on her Instagram Stories last Friday, June 30, where she was asked if Cruz provides financial support to their son. The story had since expired and was reuploaded on one @bethaglasi’s Tiktok account.

“Okay, I’m going to answer this because I get this a lot. Yes, he does. When he asks me how much does Elias need, I give him a breakdown of his basic needs, just his basic needs. That’s P10,000 max,” she said.

The actress then shared that while Cruz is willing to double the amount of his required financial support, she said that she cannot accept “anything more than P20,000” as she wants to accomplish her responsibilities as a mother.

“He insisted on doubling it. I know he’s more than capable of giving more than that but I told him I cannot accept anything more than P20,000 and that’s it,” she said. “Because we are co-parenting, I have my obligations and responsibilities for Elias so that’s just fair.”

Adarna also pointed out that “anything more than P20,000” is “not morally right” because their son hasn’t started schooling at the moment.

“Anything more than P20,000 for me is just not right, not morally right. Because he’s not schooling yet. He hasn’t started school yet, so that’s just basic needs,” she added.

The ex-couple’s division of financial responsibilities caught the attention of netizens, as seen in the comments of @bethaglasi’s post, with some praising Adarna and Cruz for being responsible parents.

Adarna and Cruz, who welcomed Elias in 2018, confirmed their split the following year. The former is currently married to actor Derek Ramsay, while the latter has yet to confirm his relationship with artist Isabel Santos, as of this writing, despite being seen in public together.

Despite this, the couple remained amicable on multiple occasions, where Adarna wished the actor well in his relationship with Santos. On the other hand, Cruz hoped that the actress would have a “strong and fun marriage” with her husband. EDV
