The Script guitarist Mark Sheehan dies after ‘brief illness’

Mark Sheehan, guitarist and co-founder of Irish pop rock band The Script, passed away on Saturday, April 15, due to a brief, undisclosed illness. He was 46.
Sheehan’s passing was announced by his bandmates Danny O’Donoghue and Glen Power through the band’s social media pages, also on Saturday.
“Much loved husband, father, brother, band mate and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness,” their statement said. “The family and group ask fans to respect their privacy at this tragic time.”

Fellow musicians Calum Scott, Hozier, Ella Henderson and JP Cooper were among those who sent their condolences and prayers to the bereaved family and bandmates.

Known for their songs “Hall of Fame,” “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” and “Breakeven,” among many others, The Script has won numerous awards including the bestselling Irish act at the World Music Awards in 2008, as well as the best Irish band and best album at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards in 2009.
The band performed in the Philippines in September last year as part of its “Greatest Hits Tour.” /ra
