Jona Viray heartbroken after losing 2 pets in span of four days: ‘Di nababawasan sakit sa puso’
Singer Jonalyn Viray, also known as Jona, was heartbroken following the deaths of her dog Garvy and cat Susie, who crossed the rainbow bridge within a span of four days.
Viray took to her personal Instagram account on Wednesday, March 15, to express her love for her departed pets, saying that Garvy was found in a trash can around eight to nine years ago, while Susie was rescued from a harsh environment before the pandemic.
“In a span of [four] days we lost [two] pets… Garvy who’s been with us for [eight to nine years], (we named him Garvy kasi nakita siya sa basurahan noong puppy pa siya), and Susie the cat that has literally no voice when we found her (can’t remember why we named her Susie? Basta when we saw her pre pandemic pa wala na rin siyang buntot, tinaga at binuhusan pa yata siya ng mainit na tubig),” she said.
(In a span of four days, we lost two pets. Garvy has been with us for eight to nine years, and he was so named because we found him in a trash can when he was still a puppy. Meanwhile, Susie the cat literally had no voice when we found her, although I can’t remember why we named her Susie. We saw her pre-pandemic, her tail was chopped off and it appeared that someone had poured hot water on her.)

While the singer lost a lot of rescue pets through the years, she admitted that the pain she feels remains the same.
Article continues after this advertisement“We actually lost many pets [or] rescues already, but the feeling is still the same… ‘di naman nababawasan sakit sa puso… Akala mo masasanay ka na pero hindi (the heartbreak doesn’t go away. I thought you’d get used to the pain, but no),” she said.
The “Help Me Get Over” singer also looked back on the lives of her departed pets through the years, as she took comfort in knowing that they are now in a better place.
“The only thing that’s comforting our hearts is at least, tapos na yung paghihirap at sakit nila dito (they don’t have to suffer pain anymore) and they’re in a much better place now,” she said. “We will miss you Garvy, Susie, Phil, Borlog, Charlie, Kelly, Mami, Baby Girl, Poly, Bumble Bear, Karmencito, Bruno, Titan, Trina, and all our pets who already crossed the rainbow bridge.”
Kapuso actress Carla Abellana commiserated with the singer on her loss, as seen in the comments section.
“Jona, i am so so sorry for your loss,” she said.
The “Pinoy Pop Superstar” alum is known for being an avid animal lover, as she opened up her own animal shelter in 2022. /ra
