Donny Pangilinan admitted that being a leading man can sometimes be tiring, but there are still many reasons to be happy — such as having a successful acting career and being one-half of the popular DonBelle (Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano) love team.
In a video clip of “Tatak Star Magic Celebrity Conversations” with former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Quincy Villanueva, Pangilinan was asked about his relationship with Mariano, who he said has become his source of strength during tough times at work.
“Si Belle, we’re good,” the actor began. “You know a lot of times, sobrang pagod talaga kami kasi ‘yung mga sequences namin, hindi biro ‘yun. But I’m just glad that I get to spend it with her kasi I feel like kahit sobrang wala na kami, nakukuha namin ‘yung energy ng isa’t isa.”
(Belle and I are good… A lot of times, we’re both exhausted in our numerous sequences which were hard to film. But I’m just glad that I get to spend it with her because I feel like even if we don’t have the energy anymore, we seek strength from each other.)
Villanueva then followed up with a question: “From one to ten, is your heart happy?”
The “Love is Colorblind” actor replied: “Very happy… Hindi pwedeng 10 lang, dapat over 100 ‘yan (I can’t rate my happiness from one to 10, it has to be over a hundred).”
Asked why he’s “very happy,” Pangilinan said that he’s the type of person who would find a “reason to smile” no matter what state he is in his life.
“Very happy. Kahit pagod kayo, pwede pa rin maging happy (Even if you’re tired, you can still be happy). Even if you’re tired from work, you still have to find a reason to smile,” he said, sharing that he’s also fond of giving back to his loved ones as a way of sharing his happiness.
“If you have a little more than enough, it’s always nice to give back,” he added.
Pangilinan also revealed that he and Mariao are “supportive of each other” on and off-screen.
“She’s so supportive of me, we’re supportive of each other. It’s just so nice to have that sort of chemistry with someone, that sort of bond, that goes beyond what you see onscreen,” he said.
The 25-year-old actor, who’s the son of veteran actress Maricel Laxa and motivational speaker Anthony Pangilinan, started his entertainment career with guest appearances in various ABS-CBN shows. He was initially paired up with “Pinoy Big Brother” alum Kisses Delavin until the split of their partnership in 2019.
Pangilinan then gained widespread recognition after being paired with Mariano in the youth-oriented series “He’s Into Her” in November 2019. Their tandem became a huge success and went on to appear in various films, and are set to appear in their first teleserye “Can’t Buy Me Love” which will be released within the year. EDV
