The 95th Academy Awards is a night where films and acting performances are adjudged, but it is also an occasion for Hollywood celebrities to showcase their couture outfits and glamorous looks.

This year’s Oscars featured the newly-debuted “champagne” red carpet. Compared to the previous years’ lowkey elegance, many celebrities opted for vivid colors, with glamorous embellishments, and even a touch of whimsical elements to their looks during the event.

Take a look at some of our favorite looks during the prestigious ceremony.

Jessica Chastain

Spell classy and you will get Jessica Chastain, who looked resplendent in a silver and gold encrusted Gucci gown with a contrasting black lining accentuating the deep V of her gown, and  a long train of the same color. The redheaded beauty, who was last year’s Oscar awardee for Best Actress, further gave oomph factor to her looks with a string of emerald and diamond choker.

Angela Bassett

Bassett delivered a crash course on looking sexy at the ripe age of 64 years old when she donned a purple gown by Moschino, with a dramatic asymmetrical neckline. The look was finished with matching diamond accessories.

Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt’s look was on point as she stood out in her off-white Valentino gown that hugged her body in all the right places. She matched the look with a sleek chignon and a pair of red chandelier earrings. Her stylish gown can also be interpreted as an homage to her character Emily in the hit 2006 film “The Devil Wears Prada” where she said, “I refuse to be sick. I’m wearing Valentino, for crying out loud.”

Halle Berry

Halle Berry proved once more that she’s one of the stars to watch out for on the red carpet when she arrived in a glamorous white halter gown with a thigh-high slit by Australia-based designer Tamara Ralph. The actress looked like a seductive siren in her dress, where the rose gold metal jewelry sewn on its neckline and plunging stomach cutout are to-die-for.

Michelle Yeoh

This year’s Oscar Best Actress awardee made sure to look like the star of the show in a white ball gown by Dior in Haute Couture with feather-like fringes. Michelle Yeoh completed the look with matching diamond accessories and a thin headband.

Halle Bailey

Halle Bailey paid homage to her character Ariel in a dramatic tulle sea foam green corset ballgown by Dolce and Gabbana. Her dark tresses were pulled back in a vintage-inspired updo, while keeping her jewelries to a minimum.

Rihanna

Rihanna had three outfit changes at this year’s Oscars, but the award-winning musician’s revealing black metal-encrusted ensemble was one for the books. Custom-made by Maison Margiela by John Galliano, her gown showed off her protruding belly, with black palazzo pants with flower patterns, and faux leather gloves. Clearly maternity outfits need not go blah with this certified fashion maven.

Dolly de Leon

Dolly embodied her powerful “I’m the captain” persona in the Ruben Ostlund-helmed film, as seen in her oversized black pantsuit adorned with red accessories. Compared to her previous awards ceremony looks, her chic staid menswear-inspired outfit is an ode to her sweet yet straightforward personality in real life. EDV
