Parokya ni Edgar’s Gab Chee Kee discharged from hospital, continues fight vs lymphoma

Parokya ni Edgar guitarist Gab Chee Kee is finally out of the hospital after his two-month-long stay due to complications caused by lymphoma.
Chito Miranda announced this while showing Chee Kee heading out of the hospital in casual clothes and in a wheelchair, through the band frontman’s Instagram page on Friday, March 10.
“After [two] months in the hospital due to pneumonia (more than a month dun, intubated sa ICU), and after several major and minor operations dealing with complications brought about by his condition, sa wakas…pina-uwi na si Gab sa bahay nila (finally, Gab was allowed to go home),” Miranda said in the caption.
Miranda reiterated his gratitude to those who helped raise funds for Chee Kee’s medical expenses, noting how these people were the reason the latter “survived.”
“He was able to get the best medical attention dahil nagtulung-tulong tayo (because we all helped)…and now, he could finally continue with his chemotherapy. Kelangan niya lang magpalakas para makayanan niya yung chemo,” he stated. (He just needs to gain strength to be able to endure the chemotherapy.)
“The important thing is that we are back on track. Kumbaga, balik tayo sa main event (We are back at the main event, so to speak)…his fight against Lymphoma,” he continued. “We will win this battle.”
Miranda also said he and his bandmates will always look back at this moment—Chee Kee’s story of fighting and surviving cancer—when they are older, and that it will always be “one hell of an inspirational story.”

In a separate Facebook post, the band gave an account of the several medical conditions Chee Kee suffered from and thanked the staff who took care of him.
“Tuloy pa rin ang laban natin, Gab!” it addressed Chee Kee. “Cancer na lang ‘yan! Kayang-kaya mo yan! Ikaw ang ‘Incredible Absorbing Man’!” (Our fight continues, Gab! It’s only cancer! You can overcome this! You are the “Incredible Absorbing Man”!)
Fellow celebrities and fans were elated upon seeing the progress on Chee Kee’s health, sending their well-wishes and prayers to the band guitarist.
