Anne Curtis joins Tokyo marathon in March for a ‘meaningful cause’

Anne Curtis revealed that she will be participating in the Tokyo marathon this March to support a meaningful cause.

The actress-host said in her personal Instagram account that she recently completed a 32-kilometer run as part of her preparation for the upcoming marathon.

“[Thirty-two kilometers]. I can’t believe I did it,” she began. “Now, it’s time to taper for the @tokyomarathon [running emoji]. I’ve deferred my entry since 2019 [and] decided to commit on Jan 1 to finally do it – giving me just about 2 months to train. I’m even more inspired because, as [in] my past 2 marathons, I will be running for a very meaningful cause.”

Curtis shared that she’s “even more inspired” to join the Tokyo marathon since she will be raising funds to help child victims of violence, abuse and exploitation, done in partnership with United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Philippines, according to a follow-up post.

“Running with a purpose has always made each [kilometer] even more meaningful. And for my [third] marathon in Tokyo on March 5, I’m dedicating it to help raise funds for child victims of violence, abuse and exploitation,” she said.

Fellow celebrities including Pia Wurtzbach, Bea Alonzo, Jericho Rosales, Angelica Panganiban, Charlene Gonzales, and Enchong Dee expressed their support for Curtis’ upcoming participation in the Tokyo marathon.

Wurtzbach, herself a marathoner, said, “This is it!! So excited for you! And what progress!!”

Panganiban wrote, “Go go go kambal! Kaka-inspire ka (Go, twin! You’re an inspiration!)”

Curtis was appointed as a celebrity advocate of UNICEF Philippines back in April 2018, where she completed the 2018 London marathon. At that time, she raised funds for the agency’s emergency response program for children living in Marawi City.

The “It’s Showtime” host recently celebrated her 38th birthday last Feb. 17, where she wowed netizens with her toned physique. EDV
