How news of Dolphy’s death broke out

MANILA, Philippines – The news first broke on Twitter when stars–including Ruffa Gutierrez, Rufa Mae Quinto and Vice Ganda, posted tweets of condolences for the Quizon family.

At 9 p.m. on ABS-CBN, Dolphy’s partner Zsa Zsa Padilla confirmed his passing.

The exact hour of death was initially reported as 8:42 p.m. On Monday night, he had another dialysis; earlier Tuesday, a blood transfusion.

When Inquirer called MMC at 9 p.m., we were told, “We are awaiting word from the family.”

Padilla and some of Dolphy’s children, including Epy and Ronnie Quizon, were said to be at his side.

Family spokesperson Eric Quizon rushed back from Dinalupihan, Bataan, where he was working on TV5 series “Enchanted Garden.”

Dolphy’s remains will be brought to Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig. He would have turned 84 on July 25.
