Japan pageant acquires franchise for PH-based global tilt

MANILA, Philippines — The Mrs. Tourism Ambassador International Japan pageant will add another national title to the list of crowns it will bestow in this month’s coronation program after national director Myla Villagonzalo Tsutaichi acquired the license to select the “land of the rising sun’s” delegate to the Mrs. Face of Tourism Universe contest.

The Mrs. Face of Tourism Philippines pageant, the Philippine national affiliate of the Mrs. Face of Tourism Universe competition, announced on Facebook that Tsutaichi has been designated as the global tilt’s national director for Japan. The international contest is mounted by Filipino pageant organizer Annie Refrea, and is set to stage its inaugural edition later this year.

Tsutaichi herself is an international beauty titleholder. She received the Mrs. Tourism Ambassador International crown in a competition held in Malaysia in 2019.

When Tsutaichi launched the Mrs. Tourism Ambassador International Japan pageant last year, she announced partnerships with the Malaysia-based Mrs. Tourism Ambassador Universe competition and the Australia-based Mrs. Universe (Official) contest.

With the recent franchise acquisition, the Japanese national pageant has updated the list of titles at stake in the competition—Mrs. Tourism Ambassador International Japan, Mrs. Universe (Official) Japan, Mrs. Tourism Ambassador International Phil-Japan, Mrs. Universe (Official) Phil-Japan, and Mrs. Face of Tourism Japan.

The winners who will receive the Mrs. Tourism Ambassador International Japan and Mrs. Tourism Ambassador International Phil-Japan titles will compete in the Mrs. Tourism Ambassador Universe pageant in Malaysia in June.

Those who will capture the Mrs. Universe (Official) Japan and Mrs. Universe (Official) Phil-Japan crowns will participate in the second edition of the Mrs. Universe (Official) pageant, which will be hosted in the Philippines in October.

No schedule has been announced for the Mrs. Face of Tourism Universe pageant, but the national competition Mrs. Face of Tourism Philippines has already screened applicants. As for the Mrs. Tourism Ambassador International Japan contest, 12 finalists have already been announced.

“They are very empowering, and have inspiring stories,” Tsutaichi told the Inquirer in an online interview. “We had a talk where each one of them were able to speak. They shared their life stories, that taught us different life lessons,” she continued.

Tsutaichi said she gathered the ladies together to encourage them to support each other. “That is why everybody was happy during the rehearsals,” she shared.

The inaugural edition of the Mrs. Tourism Ambassador International Japan pageant will be held In Minami Azabu in Minato City in Tokyo, Japan, on Feb. 19, which also happens to be Tsutaichi’s birthday. EDV
