After his wife Heart Evangelista shut down separation rumors hounding their marriage, Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero exuded a “wonderful aura” during Wednesday’s Senate plenary session, according to his fellow senators.
Escudero was not able to evade the teasing comments from his colleagues, particularly Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, Sen. Joel Villanueva, Sen. Loren Legarda and Sen. Grace Poe, who was the first to allude to Escudero’s marriage.
“Together with each and every member of this body, I would like to warmly welcome our colleague and my seatmate, Sen. Chiz. First time in a long time we’ve seen that smile in his face, with a wonderful aura,” Poe said. “And I think if there’s anything we learned from this: love is worth fighting for.”
Zubiri then quipped that the session was suspended because he wanted to give his “dear friend” and “idol” Escudero “a big hug.”
“We believe in second chances,” Zubiri added, to which Villanueva continued, “We heart Chiz.”
Legarda then took the podium, reiterating Poe’s remark on Escudero’s “aura.” Zubiri then noted that “the whole session floor is happy for [Escudero].”
“I just want to signify my support for the statement made by Sen Poe, and we see the different aura of our good friend from Bicol,” Legarda stated.
Separation rumors hounded Evangelista and Escudero in 2022 after netizens noticed that she had removed the Escudero surname from her Instagram profile. In September of the same year, she admitted that she was dealing with “personal struggles,” revealing a month later that she was planning on staying abroad “indefinitely” for her work commitments.
The actress then shut down the split talks in December by telling Escudero that she would “see [him] soon” after her stay in Paris. Evangelista recently returned to Paris for the fashion week and Escudero was seen accompanying his wife in one of her events in the city.
In a feature story released by Mega, Evangelista admitted “passing through fire” with Escudero as well as being pressured into having a baby. /ra
