Kim Chiu is overjoyed after being named as the Best Female TV Host at the 35th Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television.

Chiu, who’s been hosting the noontime show “It’s Showtime” since 2020, became emotional while holding her PMPC plaque at the show’s Jan. 30 episode which was also uploaded on ABS-CBN Entertainment’s YouTube channel.

“Grabe, first award ko ‘to as a host. Legit na ko,” she said. “Di ko naman strength ang hosting, naglalaro lang naman tayo dito. Salamat sa ‘It’s Showtime’ kasi binibigyan niyo ako ng pagkakataon, endless chances, at endless opportunities, at sa PMPC for the recognition, at sa lahat ng mga sumusuporta sakin.”

(Wow, this is my first award as a host. I’m legit. Hosting is not my strength since we enjoy our time together. Thank you to ‘It’s Showtime’ for giving me the privilege, endless chances, and endless opportunities, as well as the PMPC for the recognition, and to those who supported me.)

The actress also shared photos of herself while holding the coveted award from the PMPC on her Instagram account on Tuesday, Jan. 31.

“What a way to start the year [emojis] Thank you PMPC Star Awards for this recognition,” she wrote. “From guest co-host to regular host, from face shield to no face shield. From bashing to brushing it off and using it as constructive criticism, I used those words not to put me down but used them as a weapon to do better in what I am doing.”

Chiu also shared that she was urged to attend voice modulation workshops prior to hosting the noontime show.

“Hosting is not my strength [because of] my voice. Years ago, when I started showbiz, Mr. M pushed me to attend [a] series of workshops in voice modulation. “[Di ko] gets before but now nahilot naman ng konte (but I improved a lot now). Thank you po. Never have I thought na makakapag host ako (that I will become a host),” she said.

The “Pinoy Big Brother” alum also thanked her fans, Star Magic colleagues, and co-hosts in “It’s Showtime” for not “giving up on me,” as well as the PMPC for her recent milestone.

TV host Bianca Gonzalez, comedienne KaladKaren, Kim’s older sister Lakambini Chiu, and Korean dance coach and choreographer Bae Yoon-jung congratulated the actress-host on her achievement, as seen in the comments.

“So proud of you!!! You deserve it!! You know you have my support and encouragement always as Kim the host! [heart emoji] More to come,” Gonzalez said.
