Dolly de Leon was definitely a head-turner at the recently held Golden Globe Awards as she made it to international fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar’s list of 14 best-dressed stars at the event, joining Hollywood celebrities Rihanna, Michelle Yeoh, Margot Robbie and Jessica Chastain, among others.
De Leon served looks in a black halter faux leather gown with built-in corset by Filipino fashion designer Norman Rene De Vera, as seen on the latter’s Instagram page on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
“Dolly de Leon starred in ‘Triangle of Sadness,’ which received an eight-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. And we’d give this leather gown with matching gloves an eight-minute standing ovation, too, if we could,” the fashion magazine wrote.
De Leon also accentuated her ensemble with jewelry including an Edward Avedis diamond ring worn over her gloves, and blue rain cuffs earrings from Italian jeweler Alessandra Camilla Milano.
Other stars who were on the magazine’s best-dressed list were Letitia Wright, Sigourney Weaver, Angela Bassett, Michelle Williams, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Lily James, Natasha Lyonne, Seth Rogan and Claire Danes.
De Leon, the first Filipino actor to have earned a Golden Globe nomination, fell short of winning this year’s best supporting actress award. Bassett, who was nominated for her portrayal in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” bagged the said acting award.
Aside from the Golden Globe nomination, De Leon’s acclaimed performance in “Triangle of Sadness” received several recognitions including the best supporting performer award at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and best supporting actress nomination at the 2022 Satellite Awards.
She also made it to the longlist of the British Academy Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards for the supporting actress category, and was featured in British Vogue’s 2023 Hollywood portfolio alongside award-winning actors Cate Blanchett, Eddie Redmayne and Hugh Jackman. /ra
