Kylie Verzosa doesn’t consider relationship with Jake Cuenca ‘failed’: ‘What we had was beautiful’
Beauty queen-actress Kylie Verzosa believes that though her relationship with actor Jake Cuenca has ended, it is not considered “failed.”
The Miss International 2016 titleholder opened up on her past relationship with Cuenca in an interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda, via his YouTube channel last Sunday, New Year’s Day.
“I wouldn’t want to call it na (that) it didn’t work out… maybe it ended. I hear from people it’s a failed relationship, or maybe it didn’t work out, pero ‘di ko po siya kino-consider na ganoon (but I don’t consider it like that),” she told Abunda.
Verzosa opts to look at her breakup with Cuenca from a different perspective, by seeing the ways she and the actor helped each other grow.
“I think it was a good relationship and we learned from it. We became better people. I believe that who we are today is a contribution of that relationship,” she said. “We were different people when we started the relationship and when we ended the relationship.”

“I want to keep our relationship in the past, and what we had was, I believe, beautiful. I want to keep it that way,” she stressed. “I don’t want to tarnish anyone’s name, and I don’t want to destroy anything. But it would be something between just the two of us.”
Despite going their separate ways, Verzosa only has kind words for her ex-boyfriend, who she described as a “good person” and a “great actor.”
“A lot of things I know now are because of him, and I owe him a lot,” she explained.
Verzosa then admitted she is not ready for a new relationship just yet, and she is unsure when she may be prepared for it.
“I say I love love, but I’m not ready for it. Maybe not in a few months, maybe not in a year. Eventually,” she said.
Cuenca confirmed in April 2021 that he and Verzosa had ended their three-year relationship, describing their time together as “the best.” At the time, the actor stressed that he and the beauty queen did not “break up in anger.” /ra
