Patricia Javier hopes to crown ‘cowboy’ with a ‘good heart’ as Noble Queen
MANILA, Philippines—Patricia Javier was crowned Nobel Queen of the Universe in 2019, and she hopes the title this year will go to somebody who will continue to uphold her organization’s thrust of promoting women empowerment and work to uplift the lives of the distraught.
“First she must be down to earth, a ‘cowboy.’ Even if you know she comes from a place of affluence she knows how to eat with her hands, and knows how to get along with others,” Javier told the Inquirer in Filipino at the sidelines of the Christmas party thrown by the Noble Queen of the Universe Ltd. Inc. (NQULI) at the Windmills and Rainforest in Quezon City on Dec. 18, where the organization’s queens and select members of the media were also in attendance.
“Secondly, she has to have a big heart. Noble queens are always on the go. And whatever their past may be, it’s all behind them now. What is important is now, how they carry themselves, and how they help their fellowmen,” continued the actress-singer, who is also doing double duty for the organization, as both the national director for the Philippines and international director overseeing the global competition.
For this year’s edition, NQULI gathered the eight best aspirants for the final coronation program, where they are all expected to receive titles befitting their respective advocacies and backgrounds.
Javier said the organization can tell where an aspirant can best excel based on the work she has accomplished. “For example, if you’re more on tourism, that’s where you’re good at, you will be crowned Noble Queen Tourism,” she explained.

The organization already had a one-on-one interview session with the delegates to get their thoughts and allow them to discuss their advocacy work and how they plan to use the crown to further their cause.

The Respect: Noble Queen of the Universe coronation program will take place at the Tokyo Prince Hotel in Tokyo, Japan, today, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. (3 p.m. in Manila). Among this year’s delegates is former Tacloban City Mayor Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez representing the Visayas.
Sheralene Shirata is representing Luzon, while Leira Buan is representing Mindanao. Filipino-American Marjorie Renner is representing the United States. /ra
