Mimiyuuuh grew sentimental recently, saying he had not been able to experience the festivity of the Christmas holidays before because he was always working and helping his parents in their clothing stall in Baclaran, Paranaque.
The vlogger showed throwback photos of him and his family in their then-business through his Instagram page on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Mimiyuuuh and his siblings then recalled in a vlog on his YouTube channel how Christmas day was just a “normal day” for them.
“‘Yung pasko namin nung hindi pa ako nagba-vlog — siyempre wala pa po kami masyadong pera noon — so I really felt na ‘yung Christmas namin dati, parang hindi talaga siya special,” he said. “Every Christmas parang na-feel ko na obligated ako mag-work, magtinda kasi nga tutulong kami sa parents namin. So hindi kami nakakapag-celebrate ng Christmas talaga. It’s just a normal day.”
(Our Christmas before I started vlogging — since we didn’t have money at the time — I really felt that it was not special. Every Christmas, I feel like I was obligated to work and sell [clothes] to help our parents. So we weren’t really able to celebrate Christmas. It was just a normal day.)
Mimiyuuuh admitted being envious of other families who have the means to celebrate the occasion, narrating how he and his family would just choose to sleep on Christmas as they were tired from work.
“Dati naiinggit ako sa ibang family na nagse-celebrate ng Christmas — ‘yung talagang may event sila, program. Since puyat kami sa 24, kasi nagtitinda kami sa Baclaran, ‘yung Christmas namin ay ikakain na lang namin tapos matutulog kami.
(Back then, I envied other families who celebrate Christmas with events and programs. My family and I — since we were working all day in our stall during the 24th [of December], we would just eat then sleep on Christmas.)
Despite the hardships and absence of celebrations, Mimiyuuuh stressed that they still somehow felt the essence of Christmas because their family was complete.
Mimiyuuuh first gained mainstream media attention after his “Dalagang Filipina” challenge back in 2019. The vlogger has since grown his following on YouTube with 4.38 million subscribers as of this writing. EDV
