Anne Hathaway has expressed doubts about making another “The Devil Wears Prada” film, saying the 2006 film belonged to a different era.

The American actress aired her thoughts on a possible sequel in an interview with ABC’s “The View” yesterday, Nov. 2 (Philippine time), when the subject was brought up after Hathaway was asked about her accidentally re-creating one of her looks in “The Devil Wears Prada” during New York Fashion Week.

“I don’t know if there can be [a sequel]. I just think that movie was in a different era. Now, everything’s gone so digital and that movie is centered around the concept of producing a physical thing and it’s just very different now,” she said.

Despite her doubts, Hathaway admitted it is “tempting” to explore the story of the “The Devil Wears Prada” characters, specifically Miranda (Meryl Streep), Emily (Emily Blunt) and Nigel (Stanley Tucci).

“It is tempting to think about Andy and Emily needing to get Miranda her coffee and she’s somewhere in Europe. And then along the way they pick up Stanley Tucci in Italy, who’s at a restaurant. It’s tempting but I don’t think it’s going to happen,” she added.

Instead of a sequel, Hathaway suggested a “relaunch” of the film where they can “find new people” to do it.

“The Devil Wears Prada,” released in 2006, marked its 16th anniversary last July 1 (June 30 in the United States). It follows the story of recent college graduate Andy (Hathaway), who lands a job as the assistant to diabolical magazine editor Miranda Priestly.  /ra
