‘On the Job: The Missing 8’ chosen as PH entry to Oscars
“On the Job: The Missing 8,” has again received international recognition, having been chosen to be the Philippines’ entry in the upcoming 95th Academy Awards, also known as Oscars.
The movie’s selection in the festival was announced by the Film Development Council of the Philippines via its Facebook page yesterday, Sept. 30.
“The 95th Academy Awards Best International Feature Film may be ours this year. Congratulations to the Philippine entry to the Oscar Awards, ‘On the Job: The Missing 8’ directed by Erik Matti,” it stated.

This comes after the “On the Job” miniseries, which was adapted from the original movie and “The Missing 8,” earned a nomination at the International Emmy Awards.
Article continues after this advertisement“On the Job: The Missing 8,” a follow-up to the 2013 movie “On the Job,” premiered in September 2021 at the 78th Venice International Film Festival. Its star John Arcilla was named best actor in the said festival.
Article continues after this advertisementThe film follows journalist Sisoy Salas (Arcilla) who looks into the disappearances of his colleagues. It also stars actor Dennis Trillo as a prisoner who fell into a gun-for-hire business.
Christopher de Leon, Leo Martinez, Joey Marquez, Vandolph Quizon, Agot Isidro, Eric Fructuoso and Soliman Cruz are part of the film’s cast as well. /ra
