Romnick Sarmenta has encouraged the public to continue wearing face masks after voluntary mask wearing has been allowed in outdoor settings.

The actor weighed in on the “inconvenience” masks might be bringing to some people amid the COVID-19 pandemic while emphasizing that it could put some people at risk, as per his Twitter page last Monday, Sept. 12.

“So people think that wearing a mask is an inconvenience. But is it more convenient to risk the elderly and those with weaker resistance? I wear a mask for others,” he said, along with the hashtag “#keepyourmaskon.”

Wearing face masks has now been allowed in “open spaces and non-crowded outdoor areas with good ventilation,” as per President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Executive Order No. 3. The order took effect immediately last Monday.

However, the measure states that senior citizens, immunocompromised individuals and those who are yet to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are “strongly encouraged” to still wear face masks outdoors.

Given this, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles reiterated the importance of and continued adherence to minimum health standards amid the COVID-19 pandemic.  /ra
