Cherie Gil was remembered by her daughter Bianca Rogoff through an open letter she dedicated to the late veteran actress, over a month after her death.
Rogoff gave an account of the instances she felt the presence of her mom as well as her uncle, the late actor Mark Gil, as per Rogoff’s Instagram page yesterday, Sept. 11.
“I felt you today, guiding me with your lightness; easing my heart into love and compassion and straying away from negative thoughts. I felt you in the sun,” Rogoff said. “Then in the laughter of my cousin as we sat sharing a juice. I could feel you and her dad, my uncle, smiling at us. It’s amazing how far we’ve come.”
Rogoff admitted she was in tears while composing the letter, recounting Cherie’s “adventurous spirit” and how she wanted her family to “live life with joy and not take things too seriously.”
“It comes in waves but what puts me at ease is knowing the ease you’re feeling now that you are finally free — the true bohemian you always wanted to be,” Rogoff stated. “Before you passed you told me to go, and so I’m going. With and for you.”
Bianca and her brother Raphael are Cherie’s children with husband Rony Rogoff. Their brother Jay Eigenmann, meanwhile, is Gil’s eldest son with veteran actor-comedian Leo Martinez.
Cherie passed away last Aug. 5 after her battle with endometrial cancer, a disease she was diagnosed with last year. JB
