Bianca Rogoff, Cherie Gil’s daughter, stressed how the late actress would want her family to “live joyfully,” after a netizen questioned her attendance in a party despite her mom’s recent death.

Rogoff responded to an unnamed netizen who asked her, “Your mom just passed away and [you’re] in a party now?” as seen in a screenshot of their conversation, on Rogoff’s Instagram Stories today, Aug. 16. The netizen was apparently referring to Rogoff’s now-expired Stories post, showing herself in a beach party.

“Absolutely. Life is sacred and should be valued and honored, and most importantly, lived. And if you knew her, she’d be the first one to tell anyone to live their life adventurously and joyfully,” she told the netizen.

Rogoff also noted that she has no obligation to live up to the public’s expectation of how she should grieve her mom’s death.

“I am grieving and that is similarly sacred — but it is not my job to show you that,” she stated. “I love my mother and am allowed to grieve as publicly or privately as I wish. I am not here to perform for those who chose to follow me.”

Rogoff ended her message by reminding the sender that they are free to unfollow her on the platform, adding that she will continue enjoying the life Gil “gave and granted” her.

“I will not be answering or justifying all the messages in my inbox so please consider this as overall statement for now,” she added to her post.
