MANILA, Philippines — Another international pageant is set to crown a king and a queen, and the Philippines is set to participate in the inaugural edition of the global tilt based in Istanbul, Turkey.
The Mister International Philippines (MIPH) organization has secured the national license for the Miss and Mister Beauté International pageant, according to a social media post from the group’s president, lawyer Manuel Deldio.
MIPH director of communications Norman Tinio also revealed that 2022 Mister International Philippines top 10 finalist John Ernest Tanting from Cebu City will be the country’s male representative in the twin pageants on Nov. 27 in Istanbul.
“[Tanting] finished sixth during the finals of Mister International Philippines 2022 last June 27. Aside from the top 5, who were announced as MIPh and runners-up, he is already next in line as potential selection for a new franchise,” Tinio told the Inquirer in an interview.
The Turkish organizers of the new international competition “are looking for a pair of representatives who can team up to best represent a country in the competition,” he added.
No female representative has been chosen as of this writing, but Deldio said on social media that his team will hold auditions soon. Tinio said it will be conducted this month. The pair representing the Philippines is expected to arrive in Istanbul by Nov. 22.
Deldio, meanwhile, confirmed that the license would be the last acquisition for MIPH this year.
Aside from the Mister International pageant, where the national contest’s main winner will be sent, MIPH also secured the licenses for the Mister Global, Mister National Universe, Mister Tourism International, Caballero Universal, and Mister Teen International competitions.
Myron Jude Ordillano was proclaimed 2022 Mister International Philippines in the national organization’s inaugural competition that concluded on June 27, making him the country’s representative to the 14th edition of the Bangkok-based Mister International contest, which will be staged in the Philippines next month.
His runners-up have already assumed their own respective national titles, earning for them their respective tickets to international competitions. An official conferment ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Novotel Manila, Araneta City in Quezon City on Sept. 8.
Aside from Tanting, first runner-up Mark Avendaño, second runner-up Michael Ver Comaling, third runner-up Kitt Cortez, and fourth runner-up Andre Cue will be in attendance for their official presentation as members of “Team Philippines” tasked to bring home titles from various international pageants.
Deldio said “this is just the start of our organization’s exciting journey,” and invited the Filipino people to join MIPH in raising the country’s flag. JB
