Binibining Pilipinas first runner-up Herlene Budol ticked off an item on her bucket list as she got to wear a Darna costume during her 23rd birthday celebration yesterday, Aug. 23.
The comedian-beauty queen looked stunning in the red-and-gold two-piece costume, as seen on her Instagram page today, Aug. 24. The costume was inspired by what actress Marian Rivera wore during her stint as the Filipino superhero in 2009.
“Ding, ang korona!” Budol said, a play on Darna’s iconic line. “Natupad na din ang pangarap kong magsuot ng Darna costume sa aking kaarawan.” (Ding, [give me] the crown! My dream of wearing a Darna costume was finally granted during my birthday.)
Budol then expressed her appreciation to those who organized and attended her birthday party, including her fans and her talent manager Wilbert Tolentino.
During the event, Budol also performed her song “Gandang Hipon” while wearing the Darna costume, as seen on her makeup artist Mary Letim’s Instagram Stories yesterday.

Meanwhile, Budol will continue her pageantry career as she is set to compete in international beauty pageants. This was announced by Tolentino, who already asked for permission from the Binibining Pilipinas organization. /ra
