Gina Pareño has confirmed that she is a member of the LGBTQ community as she opened up on a special person in her life who had passed away.

The veteran actress admitted this during her interview with comedian Ogie Diaz for the latter’s YouTube vlog yesterday, July 18.

“Kaya mo bang aminin na miyembro ka ng LGBTQ?” Diaz asked Pareño. (Can you admit that you are a member of the LGBTQ [community]?)

“Oo, bakit, problema? Saka nagmamahal ako nang tapat,” she answered while laughing. (Yes, why, [is there a] problem? I love truly.)

The two also talked about late actress Nenita Vidal who Pareño referred to as “Doktora Bong” and considers as her “lucky charm.” Pareño looked back at how Vidal had educated her and helped her get through her drug addiction years ago.

“Nasa kuwarto ko pa rin ‘yung urn niya… Ang dami kong utang na loob doon, saka mabait sa akin. Tinuturuan ako, ine-educate niya ako,” she told Diaz. (I owe a lot of things to her, and she was so kind to me. She taught me, educated me.)

“Tinuruan niya ako kung paano kumilos, lahat. Ibinigay niya sa akin ‘yung naiwan niyang bahay. Saka alam kong mahal na mahal ako no’n,” Pareño added. (She taught me how to move, everything. She left me with her house. I also know she really loved me.)

Pareño then laughed off the times she brought Vidal’s urn to various tapings, saying some might have called her “naloloka (going crazy).” For her, Vidal is “buenas (lucky).”

“Minahal mo naman si Doc nang tapat (You truly loved Doc),” Diaz said. Pareño agreed by saying, “Oo, sobra (Yes, a lot).”

Diaz then asked Pareño whether she is still open to loving again, to which she replied, “Wala na, pack up na ako diyan (Not anymore, I have packed up).”

Aside from Pareño’s confirmation that she is a member of the LGBTQ community, the two also talked about how much the veteran actress misses being onscreen. She narrated that she would often do TikTok videos to practice being on-camera, but related her fear that acting would only be limited to her room.

“Kunin naman niyo ako. Kasi sa kwarto, aarte-arte ako doon. Baka mauwi ako sa mental nito!” she quipped. “Gumigising ako, baka naloloka ako.” (Please cast me. Because in my room, I act there. I might end up in a mental institution. I wake up thinking I might be going crazy.)

Pareño recently appeared in the GMA series “Lolong,” which stars Ruru Madrid. Some of her recent projects also include appearances in the 2019 TV show “Kara Mia” and the 2021 movie “Tililing.”  /ra
