Andrea Brillantes opened up on how she lost her childhood after she started working at an early age, revealing that it caused her to oftentimes talk in a childish way unconsciously.

The actress, who entered showbiz at the age of 7, explained how such a voice comes out when she feels secured and cared for, in an exclusive interview with Karen Davila, as seen in a vlog on the broadcaster’s YouTube channel yesterday, July 9.

(The way I talk like a baby, which is always trending [on social media], that is really my voice and I do not get to control it [consciously]. It just switches because when I was a kid, I was deprived of attention — I was the youngest but I did not grow up with my parents — I was really a baby. Sometimes, I only realize that I am talking in a childish way when people are already teasing me about it.)

Brillantes also pointed out that she does not get offended or hurt by the bashing her voice gets, as she does not have control over it.

(It always comes back. [My voice] just changes when it is for a role because it is my work and it is necessary. I feel like it is really a part of my childhood that I did not get to experience.)

Brillantes then talked about the public’s impression of her, after she was asked by Davila if the actress deems it unfair to be branded as “wild” despite her sacrifices for her family. Brillantes noted that although she is an outgoing person, she knows how to balance her priorities.

‘Yung pagbe-baby talk ko, akala kasi nila nagpapa-cute ako pero ‘yung mga friends ko, alam nilang gano’n lang talaga ako as person,” she stated.

(It is one of my and my friends’ frustrations. They are the ones who tell me, “You do not deserve this.” When I do baby talk, [the public] thinks that I do it to look cute but my friends know that it is just how I am as a person.)

(But really, I cannot do anything about it even if I insist. Whatever I do, it is beyond me to change other people’s impression of me, if that is what they want to see.)

Meanwhile, Brillantes recently opened up about what she feels towards her bashers, disclosing that she has become unbothered by them as she is already used to bashing after years in the showbiz industry. JB
