Janella Salvador is mourning the death of her pet dog and “partner in life” Max, who was with her when she first moved into her own home and was just learning to be independent.
The actress looked back at the fond memories she shared with her beloved pet while showing photos of Max with her and her son Jude, via her Instagram page today, July 8.
“These past few days have been some of the hardest in my 24 years of existence. To some I might sound dramatic but I feel like there’s now a big hole in my chest; that I now lack a part of me,” she told fans. “It’s probably because I feel like I didn’t just lose a pet — I lost a partner in life.”
Salvador recalled the moments of “most unconditional love” she received from Max, as well as the times he comforted her during her time of sadness.
“I always laughed in my head when people would get frightened due to his size because he could never ever even hurt a fly. I lost my first baby boy who was always so gentle with Jude. He was supposed to grow old with him,” she said.
“When I moved out at 19, my home barely had anything and I would struggle from time to time learning to be independent. No furniture, an emotional mess… but I had you,” she narrated.
Salvador expressed hope that Max was able to feel her love for him. She also admitted “beating [herself] up” over not being able to hold her pet’s paw during his last few moments. She then recounted the first time she met Max as a puppy, noting that he was the only puppy she wanted from the litter and the first one to run to her.
“You chose me and I chose you. Thank you for sharing your life with me. ‘Til we meet again,” she said. “[…] Run free, my Maxipoo. The house will never be the same without your big fluffy body and barks. I love you.”
Celebrities who sent their condolences to Salvador include Iza Calzado, Liza Soberano, Maris Racal and Loisa Andalio. /ra
