Morissette Amon and her husband, fellow singer Dave Lamar, looked back at their rainy wedding day as they celebrated their first year as a married couple.
Amon recalled their intimate outdoor wedding while showing photos from their special day on her Instagram page yesterday, June 28.
“Although there were heavy rains that day, I was only reminded of how God orchestrated our love story and got us through it all; how like an umbrella, He is the one who unites and shelters us with His love [and] grace,” she said. “And so despite the many storms in life, with Him in the center, we will continue to dance in the rain.”
Amon described Lamar as “the fire to my ember” and noted the times he took care of her when she was burned out.
“It’s been such a beautiful journey so far, thank you for holding my hand with every step, and I will also continue to take care of you like the MVP that you are in my life,” she told her husband.
“I love you from here, all the way to the moon, and always come back home to you, @davejlamar. Happy [first], bana nako!” Amon added, quoting their song “Luna.”
For his part, Lamar also lifted quotes from “Luna” while showing their wedding photo on his Instagram page yesterday. He then compared the heavy rains on their wedding day to the plans they made about their lives together.
“We had planned for an outdoor wedding from ceremony to reception. But fifteen minutes before we were [supposed] to start, the rain poured!” he recounted. “…Plans changed but we still pushed through and everything still turned out beautiful and exactly how God wanted it.”
For Lamar, the heavy rain was “foreshadowing of what was to come” since they could both prepare and plan, but “God is always moving and directing exactly where we should go.” Over the past year, Lamar learned to keep God at the center of their marriage. He also called it a “privilege trying to figure out life” with Amon.
“I’m excited to see where God continues to lead. One year down and I look forward to the gift of every single day I get to spend beside this beautiful woman that I get to call my wife!” he told fans. “Morissette mi love, gihigugma tika!”
Amon and Lamar got engaged in December 2020. At the time, Amon referred to Lamar as her first love and “answered prayer.” The couple then revealed last January that they had been married for several months. /ra
