Ben&Ben and P-pop group SB19 have joined forces again for a powerful performance video of the folk pop band’s song “Kapangyarihan,” days before the national elections.

The video, released on Ben&Ben’s YouTube channel yesterday, May 5, begins with an empty stage filled with televisions that show footages of presidential speeches, government assemblies and inaugurations.

Ben&Ben and SB19 then appear onstage and perform “Kapangyarihan,” a track that denounces abuse of power. They are also joined by Filipinos from various walks of life such as farmers, medical workers, students and indigenous people.

The video concludes with the musicians showing their index fingers painted with the colors red, blue, white and yellow, the colors of the Philippine flag. The lights onstage, which started out pink, changed into the colors of the flag as well.

Ben&Ben noted that SB19 participated in the video “as performers, not as an endorsement for any politician or political party for the 2022 Philippine national elections.” Meanwhile, the band earlier expressed support for the presidential bid of Vice President Leni Robredo.

The performance video for “Kapangyarihan” comes after Ben&Ben released the song “Paninindigan Kita” last Sunday, May 1. The upbeat track was produced by two of the band’s frequent collaborators, Jean-Paul Verona and Sam Marquez.

Ben&Ben also recently announced that they will be holding their first tour in the United States and Canada this coming September. They are set to play in Calgary and Toronto in Canada, as well as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington and New Jersey in the US.  /ra
