KC Concepcion has joined the cast of the romantic comedy film “Asian Persuasion,” set in New York, replacing previously announced actress Toni Gonzaga in the lead role.

Concepcion will be appearing in the film opposite Filipino-American Hollywood actor Dante Basco, as per an exclusive report by Variety yesterday, April 12 (April 11 in the United States). The lead cast also includes Kevin Kreider, Paolo Montalban, Scarlett Sher, Celia Au, Geneva Carr and Jax Bacani.

Meanwhile, Yam Concepcion, Rachel Alejandro and Tony Labrusca are among the featured actors in the film, alongside Black Eyed Peas’ Apl.de.Ap, Janice Sonia Lee, Ami Sheth, Fe Delos Reyes, Joyce Keokham, Rex Navarrete, Imani Hanson and Devin Ilaw.

Gonzaga was announced to be part of the film in July last year, but she left the production due to “schedule conflicts.” Concepcion then stepped in as lead actress, as per report.

Concepcion expressed excitement over the project, which she called a “new journey,” via her Instagram page today, April 13.

“Thank you for joining us on this new journey. Grateful to be part of this Asian-American project, with our amazing cast [and] crew,” she said.

“Asian Persuasion” follows the story of a chef who cooks up a scheme to get his ex-wife remarried so he can avoid paying his alimony obligations, but he belatedly realizes that he wants to have a second chance with his ex.

The movie is directed by Tony Award-winning producer Jhett Tolentino. It is written by Mike Ang, who also serves as producer alongside Tolentino.
