Valentine’s Day need not be for lovers only, say: Angelina and Faith

For these two young actresses, Valentine’s Day isn’t necessarily about grand gestures or fancy gifts. And you don’t even need to have a romantic partner to celebrate it. “My love language is quality time, so I feel like the sweetest thing anyone has done for me [on Valentine’s Day] is to make time for me—whether it’s from friends, family, loved ones,” singer-actress Angelina Cruz, who has a new single called “Ayoko Lang,” told the Inquirer.

“The gifts don’t have to be fancy,” added Angelina, whose parents are Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano. “But I do find it sweet and I really appreciate it when people give me gifts that are meaningful.”

Singer-actress Faith da Silva, on the other hand, usually goes out on dates with her mother and brother. “It has been that way since we were young. My mom doesn’t have a partner, so Valentine’s Day is also for her,” she said.

Not lonely

The former “Starstruck” season 6 finalist added that being single doesn’t equate to being lonely. “Instead of looking for a Valentine’s date, you just go out with the people right in front of you—your family, friends, the people who have been a constant presence in your life,” said Faith, who’s set to put out a new single, “Sana Sabihin Mo Na Lang” later this month.

“You can date them!” she stressed. “It doesn’t always have to be romantic.” INQ
